Mary Nel Unleashes

A short, sharp memoir about losing everything you thought defined you, and discovering, in the rubble, that wabi-sabi was waiting. For women in midlife who suspect there's more.

Mary Nel Unleashes is Mary Nel's memoir on rebuilding life and identity through the Wabi-Sabi philosophy, available on Amazon.

Inside the book

What you'll discover

  • What actually happened in 2008, and the year after, told without the tidy version

  • Why starting again doesn't require a five-year plan, or even a one-year one

  • The difference between rebuilding and just repeating yourself, and how you tell which one you're doing

  • How wabi-sabi stopped being a word on a cushion and became something I actually live by

  • The same honesty I bring into the coaching room, in story form

The story

Turning life's challenges into purposeful change

In 2008 the market crashed and took the career I'd built my whole identity around with it. I didn't handle it gracefully. It took a while to understand that I hadn't failed at something, I'd been handed something: permission to build a smaller, more honest life instead of the one I thought I was supposed to want.

Mary Nel Unleashes is that story, told without the polish. Not a comeback narrative, not a highlight reel, just what actually happened when the plan disappeared and I had to work out who I was without it.

It's the same rebuilding that shapes every session I run now. I don't coach from theory. I coach from having done this more than once, and found the doing-it-again more honest than the original plan ever was.
